Episode 4 – A New Pattern

A very very long time ago I really enjoyed algebra…

It’s true, I was ‘that’ child. I enjoyed algebra, I enjoyed the problem solving and all the working out as well as the clear set of rules you had to follow to solve the equation. I find knitting and writing knitting patterns similarly satisfying. My first release in over 7 years is these little mitts. The Coat Pocket Mitt’s are available now though Ravelry.

The Story Behind the Mitts…

When I first started teaching myself to knit, one of the first things I made was a VERY chunky and VERY clunky pair of k1,p1, squares that I seamed up with a thumb hole. Of course I proudly wore them to death! This sparked a love of knitting that I’m not really sure I fully understand still.

I’ve knit so many fingerless mittens over the years, a fabulous few pairs of loopy patterned ones that went all the way up my arms, some great Noro ones I wore to festivals. Bubbly ones before slipstich bubbles became a West thing. You can laugh at the photos below… There’s quite the collection!

You’ll notice the heavy use of camera filters there too circa 2009 Shit has it been that long! Wow!

Any hoo… My designs and experiments have changed a lot (as has my photography) but my desire to publish patterns hasn’t.

Really hope you enjoy what’s coming next as much as I do. Don’t forget to try out the Coat Pocket Mitt’s on Ravelry

Nu xx
